Hiring: Beaver Recovery and Working Lands Coordinator

Western Beavers is hiring a Beaver Recovery and Working Lands Coordinator to support restoration, outreach, and field coordination across Eastern Oregon. Please review the Western_Beavers_Coordinator_Job_Listing_May2026 for additional details on responsibilities, travel expectations, qualifications, and compensation.

This position is designed for someone interested in practical, field-based conservation work rooted in rural communities and long-term landscape recovery. Work includes supporting restoration projects, coordinating field events and workshops, working alongside landowners and conservation partners, and helping grow local capacity for watershed restoration and beaver recovery across working lands.

The role begins as a 25-29 hour/week position, with potential to grow into a full-time role over time depending on funding, fit, and performance. Flexible scheduling is intended to help support balance with other seasonal responsibilities, where feasible.

We are especially interested in candidates who are from, or deeply connected to, Eastern Oregon communities and interested in long-term work on these landscapes. Backgrounds connected to ranching, irrigation, agriculture, watershed restoration, wildlife, or natural resources are especially encouraged.

This role is best suited for someone who is dependable, organized, self-motivated, comfortable working independently, and willing to learn. Formal degrees are helpful, but not required.

Western Beavers Cooperative works at the intersection of land, people, and practice - learning from the land and each other to support beavers and resilient working landscapes across the Oregon high desert.

We work with landowners, agencies, and local partners to support beaver persistence across eastern Oregon watersheds. Our approach is cooperative by practice, grounded in field observation, local knowledge, long-term thinking and shared learnings.

This work is shaped locally, not delivered from a central office.
